I’m extremely disappointed with the service provided by Hudson Valley Charter. I reserved two coach buses back in 2019 for my wedding that was supposed to be in October 2020 and then COVID hit so we postponed to October 2021. While the booking and date transition was easy with the office staff, the day of the wedding was a headache. Dina, their office manager, was extremely efficient and organized, however, the execution was completely the opposite. Before the wedding, I spoke with a representative multiple times about where my guests would be picked up from the hotel. They assured me it was the back of the hotel and that they go to this hotel all the time, the bus drivers know where to load and not to worry. I even went to the hotel and confirmed with them that the buses always load from the back of the hotel, even viewed the loading area. Well day of, I’m getting calls from my guests that everyone is waiting at the back of the hotel and with no bus in sight. At this point, it was past the 4:00 pm arrival and past the 4:15 pm departure. The guests finally realized that the bus was in the front of the hotel, so all of the guests had to make their way to the front. When they finally got on the bus, hot air was blowing instead of air conditioning on a 77 degree day. Guests then started getting off of the bus to get an Uber because they couldn’t stand how hot it was. After we communicated with the bus driver about the air conditioning not working at all, he assured us it would be fixed for the return trip after the wedding back to the hotel. Before we started boarding the bus, the driver told us that a mechanic came to fix the air. I personally (the bride), was on the bus for the return trip and it was not fixed. I felt hot air blowing from the vents. Again, people took Ubers home instead of taking the bus. We had about 70 guests staying in the hotels, and only about 45 guests took the buses back.
This is where we are really disappointed. When we called to discuss what happened on our wedding day, we were basically given the excuse that they contract buses out in their "busy season" and it wasn’t their fault, it was another company’s fault. We booked coach buses with Hudson Valley and were never informed we wouldn’t be getting their buses. We were also told that a mechanic was never dispatched to the venue for repairs, but then they came back and said oh yes there was a mechanic that came and it was fixed by this external company. Again, we reiterated that we booked with Hudson Valley, it’s on them to uphold a level of service that we did not receive regardless of whose buses they were. We were then told that the buses were used, regardless of how many people were on it and basically, oh well, we gave you your service end of story. So, as a customer, what I got from this situation is that Hudson Valley Charter does not strive for excellent customer service, but rather, mediocracy. I would not recommend Hudson Valley Charter and I’m so upset that this was the one vendor that caused stress on my wedding day, and it should have been the easiest. Any form of an apology would’ve been fine, but again, we were basically told oh well, the buses were used. Avoid the stress in the “wedding busy season,” and look elsewhere for transportation.
