A great place to chill and to have food when you need it. The people here are all very kind to you. Everyone is welcome here no judgement here at all. They help you with a lot of stuff here and help you with schools and other programs. This place is really good all around.

This place saved my life I was 17 when my mom died and my older sister put me out of my mom's house with two kids under the age of one. Even though I didn't bring my kids here I went and lived here for three months. I worked and saved enough money to move and get my own place. That time was in 2005, I'm now in my mid 30's and I still remember this place. The food was great and they had a lot of resources for the youth to participate in. I really am saddened that this place is closing for good in a few weeks

The staff care about the individuals that come through. They try to find and provide as many resources for the individuals as they can. I am glad these resources are available.

I have heard this organization has changed a lot in the last couple years.

A review as another provider in the community who has firsthand experience - they turn away young people like crazy, which goes completely against their advertising and supposed mission.

To get into their program, you already need a lot of personal stability and independence, as the intake process has a lot of steps. If you do get in, you will find the staff is not equipped to handle the needs of most homeless young adults, let alone for those in crisis like human trafficking victims or those suffering addiction, which is advertised as a target population (never bring a youth with high needs here). If you get in, you often can find yourself without your stuff upon being forced discharged or if you do manage to get your few belongings back, being kicked back out onto the streets of a strange area, in a worse position than the young adult started in. I do not care the excuses around behavior as their reasoning - as a provider for the same population, I see what they claim as their reasons for kicking out these young adults, and it is negligence. They have the unfair advantage because who is going to believe a homeless traumatized teen over a supposed amazing non-profit?

This non-profit gets millions in donations and pays huge salaries to those who believe in not serving everyone. Please take your time and donations elsewhere.

Some of the staff members were caring & Tried being as helpful as they could to make me comfortable.

I was allowed to stay another day after wondering down the street to a gas station to get directions (Not from here, I am from MN) & bumping Into a woman who knew of another shelter that was more like a church that said I could volunteer there when I was told I had to leave early morning, The lady had dropped me back off at the shelter after getting lost.

When I mentioned it to a staff member and showed them our exchanged text I was told she was a “Human trafficking” & that’s where it went sideways. During the entire next day I made eye contact with a lot of the teenagers staying there staring into my room while walking back and forth giggling and laughing.

When I reported it I was simply told that they weren't used to people staying in the room for more than one day. So it continued until 9:30pm. Then I went back to the room after showering on my last day, propped the door to my room & headphones were gone. ?

They couldn't do anything about that.

I had the opportunity of residing at the Covenant House. I regret not staying until I turned 21. I would have had a lot of money saved and would've went back to school and finished. It has its pros and cons like any other shelter, but the help IS there. If you have a problem with following rules, then yeah, you're going to have issues there. But in regards to help; you're fed, you have a bed, you have a place to shower, you can do your laundry and transportation is given(BUS PASSES). You're able to take advantage of programs they offer for job training, counseling is there, guidance is there, saving help is there. Putting aside all of the cons, it is a good place for teens and young adults 18-21 with or without kids, I'd recommend you go here. Even if you don't get a bed right away, if it is available, they provide emergency stays. Food, Shower, somewhere to sleep for the night, bus pass if you need it. I'm speaking from experience. I highly recommend.

Great Place!! There might be rules, and regulations you don’t like or agree with however it does teach you about life (Get use to it).

Mr. Greg was an awesome teacher, and because of him and the structure of Covenant House, I wouldn’t be 1/2 the Corrections Officer I am today.
