I’ll give this place 0 stars. My friend is currently in the shelter and she has been in danger multiple times by other sheltered youth and the staff allowed it. When she goes to the staff for help they invalidate her and somehow make the situation worse. If you value safety and respect this isn’t the place at all.

Brought a friend's nephew to seek shelter at Covenant House and the reception was great. The programme here is good for troubled youth. They also provide counseling, educational, medical services, etc.

I’d like to give this place 5 stars for helping to shape the person I am today. I used their services awhile back and if it wasn’t for them, I would have been on the streets and probably dead. I see some bad reviews regarding recent staff and I've reached out to the coordinator who had admitted that especially during COVID, they went through some bumps in the road. I urge any teen who is in a bad predicament and close to or living on the streets to reach out for help. There are always bad apples in the bunch but there are some very genuine people who have been a part of this establishment for over 15+ years. Let them help you. Help spread awareness for the children or young adults who are stuck in a bad way to reach out for help. Don’t let the streets take over your life. I hope everyone stays safe out there.

This place is good if your looking for shelter and basic mental health services for very minor mental health issues. For a program that only supports youth aged 18-21 they provide very little help with issues beyond work, housing, and identification services. Their mental health treatment is as bare as possible dealing with simple issues like anxiety or depression but little for bigger issues like schizophrenia or bipolar and give little help pushing you towards a program to help support you in that aspect. As a simple homeless shelter it is pretty good with a reasonable food schedule even though if strictly enforced. I would give this a higher score if it was simply a normal homeless shelter but as it is aimed towards younger adults and getting them off the streets they offer little support aside from finding you housing and getting you jobs, in fact they will sometimes enforce times where you cannot enter the building without a job which in my opinion defeats the purpose of getting youth off the street if your restricting them from a safe environment. For a place that helps abandoned youth transition into adulthood very little support is given.

Summary: Overall it's a good homeless shelter but a subpar young adult support shelter.

Pros:
-Good rooming situations and provided washing and dryer
-Access to a reliable meal schedule
-Chores to teach responsibility
-Provide helpful job opportunities
-Good clinical help with minor mental health issues

Cons:
-Little assistance to major health issues (Schizophrenia, Bipolar, etc.)
-Strict rules on scheduled times.
-Slow reception on housing opportunities together with pressured limited time shelter stay
-Minor help on services beyond identification and jobs
-Little encouragement of youth provided

If it wasn’t for this place, I don’t know if I’d be here today. I see some bad reviews and I’d like to just say, there’s always that one person that rub us the wrong way. Some of the staff have been here for many years and don’t hesitate to reach out for help if you need it! With Love, me.

They do great work for the homeless youth by setting them up with interview training, resume reviews, and lending them secondhand interview clothes so that the youth can go out and get real jobs for themselves. The staff are strict but caring, as you need to be to run a place like this. They host sleepouts where people can come and learn about their mission and hear some youth speak. I highly recommend attending one.
