I recently visited Governors Island and had an amazing experience, especially at Slide Hill. The short ferry ride to the island was smooth, and the walk around the island offered a delightful blend of natural beauty and unique architectural styles.

One of the highlights was renting a bike on a beautiful sunny day. It was the perfect way to explore the island and take in the stunning views of the city. However, I stopped for a bite at PIZZA YARD and found the pizza lacking in flavor and a bit overpriced, which was a slight letdown.

Despite that, the overall trip was wonderful, and I highly recommend Governors Island for a relaxing and scenic day out.

I was just wandering through the streets of downtown New York and decided to go to pier 11 Wall St Ferry and take the next ferry leaving the pier. It was Governor’s Island Ferry. It was super easy to get the $4 ticket and board the ferry. In just a few minutes and after great views, we arrived in the island. I had not idea of what to do, so I decided to walk around. I’m so glad I did! The island has many areas for picnic. You can rent a bicycle, many different types available. I walked around and discovered a beautiful view of the Statue of Liberty. The buildings are beautiful, nice architecture. I spent around 1:30. Then went back to the dock and took the ferry back to Pier 11, an easy process. I sat on the second floor and enjoyed the sea breeze and the beautiful views.

Beautiful trip. Quick and one of the few reasonably priced activities in NYC for tourists and locals alike. The island itself is a view of a former piece of NYC frozen in time.

Fast and reliable passage to governors island! Citi bike dock right there when you get to Manhattan which is super convenient. Clean public bathrooms in terminal while you wait.
