IMPORTANT! Midnight Cove II is NOT affiliated with Midnight Cove!
We learnt it only after we arrived to the premises and found out the limitations. But first about our stay and all the good things. We stayed in Midnight Cove II in August, 2022, family of 6 - 2 adults, 4 kids. We had a great time regardless some disappointing things.
The PROS:
- great location - short walk to the beach, close to grocery stores, restaurants, rental services, shopping center, cinema, etc.
- beautiful grounds - mostly clean and well taken care of, amazing nature - flora and fauna, gorgeous bay views, convenient walkways
- nice medium-sized pool, open 9 am to 10 pm, clean restrooms, outdoor shower, plenty of lounge chairs, chairs and tables with umbrellas (pool side only, not beach side)
- covered assigned parking space (1 per condo)
- kids loved to fish right from the pier by the building - fun extra activity
- condo had all the linens, bath towels, fully equipped kitchen, beach towels, beach chairs, plenty of sand and water activities toys in the storage area of the condo
- reservation process was rather easy
- helpful manager - we had to move our stay dates for 4 days later due to family circumstances and manager kindly accommodated our request. Condos were not rented during those days, so it helped and worked out well for us
- decent price, easy check in, check out
- timely unit maintenance - we had a request - there was mildew on the ceiling in one of the bedrooms - and the issue was taken care of quickly.
The CONS:
- the name of the property is misleading: we stayed in Midnight Cove a couple years ago and took it that Midnight Cove II is a part of the same property and the amenities would be the same. As of today - 08/14/22, there's no notice about MCII being separate from MC on their site or in the rental contract. Not only the name is misleading, but also the look - the buildings and grounds look similar, they share common grounds and walkway to get to the beach too. No word on it in the contract as well. So, until we received the welcome envelope, we had no idea we had no access to MC amenities.
- we were disappointed to find out we had NO access to the bathrooms on the beach side. As a family with two kids 6.5 and 4.5 years old, we had some challenging time to get to the bathroom in time since we had to come back to our condo or to the pool bathrooms on the bay side
- there were NO lounge chairs on the beach for the Midnight Cove II guests. Multiple signs said we must not touch lounge chairs on the left or on the right side of the walkway to the beach, even though tons of them were available. Maybe there are reasons why MCII can't have their lounge chairs there, I don't know. If other properties have them, I guess there should be a way to put a stack of lounge chairs for MCII instead of all the multiple signs and notices about not touching other properties' lounges and shooing people by workers of those other places
- Rats. There were at least four dead rats laying around the property at different times which were not removed on the 1st day, or the 2nd, or the 3 rd...one was there until it completely deteriorated, was eaten by the flies and stopped reeking. It was on the side of the walkway we had to use since there was no different route to get to the beach. It was definitely not what we wanted to watch and smell during our vacation. Hopefully it was a one time thing and other people will have a better luck.
- parts of windows in the bedroom and living room on the outside were green with mold. I ended up cleaning them myself because I just couldn't look at them. The condo was on the ground floor, hence the green mold I believe. It could use better cleaning in the future. It didn't take me long, but not something I was looking forward to doing.
- the floors in the condo were swept, but not washed. Had to wash them on the first day of our vacation
We will come back to Siesta Key, but most probably not to this property.
